I am M A U R E L Y, a contemporary artist based in NY.
My creative practice explores the interplay between the vibrant culture of my Dominican heritage and the dynamic philosophy of wabi-sabi, embracing the imperfections and finding beauty in the transient nature of existence.
This unique fusion is expressed through traditional influences and modern techniques, blending distinctive colors, organic textures, and fluid forms that capture both the ephemeral and the enduring aspects of life.
Each piece is a reflection of my personal female narrative, evoking inspiration from the natural world, and my Afro-Caribbean heritage, where tradition meets modernity and beauty is found in the most unexpected places with stories that often go untold. Whether through painting, or mixed media, I aim to create art that speaks to the soul and invites contemplation.
